I've been learning Russian for a few months now, and switching to lessons with Valeriia has been a breath of fresh air. From day one she started customizing the lesson plan according to my uneven knowledge. She teaches in a multi-modal way, involving presentations, written and verbal exercises. Her rules-first approach to teaching has also helped cut down the rote memorization needed significantly. Very specific reasons why I am happy that Valeriia is my Russian teacher (and not generic compliments): she identified my level and my learning speed; she prepares tailor-made lessons and homework; she writes to me and keeps me motivated if she sees that I am not scheduling the weekly lessons; she does not follow a copy/paste method from other sites or manuals but moves from simple to difficult topics back and forth depending on how she perceives I am learning new things; she has studied and learned many languages on her own and knows what is needed by those who study new idioms, but above all she is always in a good mood and always smiles despite my terrible Russian pronunciation. I love the classes with Valeriia, it actually feels like the time flies. My Russian knowledge was all over the place, but she checked my level during the trial lesson and helped me remember the things I've forgotten. She's really patient with me, even when I get things wrong right after she explains them to me. She uses her own material and knows her materials well, as she goes back and forth within the materials when she needs to explain related things. I really appreciate it and think it's possible because it is her own material. The class overall is very welcoming and comfortable. I feel like it's really ok to ask questions, which is a difficult thing for an Asian to do haha
